Over the years we have had a number of requests to add a wild rice and cranberry loaf to our offerings but didn’t pursue it further because we had difficulty sourcing a real, hand harvested wild rice that met our lofty standards. The vast majority of today’s ‘wild rice’ is a hybrid and not at all wild. It’s cultivated, grown in paddies, and machine harvested – clearly not the way for Rising Bread to go. We’ve recently located a reputable supplier here in Wisconsin and are very pleased with the results of our test bakes. Look for our upcoming post introducing Manoomin (Wild Rice) Cranberry, and look for it on your local CO-OP shelves beginning this Wednesday.
In addition to our Limited Release Manoomin Cranberry, we also have a good variety of our healthy, 100% sourdough for you to enjoy with your family and friends. We’ll have our signature Organic Stoneground, plus Organic Heirloom Spelt, Organic Herb Sourdough and Organic Sourdough Rye. Be sure to take some home!
